Understanding, designing, constructing and using radio antennas

15 Feb 07 About

Welcome to antennablog.

In this blog we plan to investigate radio antennas; in particular, antennas for amateur radio, but of course the principles apply to antennas for any purpose. We will examine how they work, design them, simulate their performance, construct them, and then test them in actual operation. We will also investigate ways of supporting antennas at the best height, methods of rotating them, and suitable networks for matching their impedance to that of our radio equipment.

We trust you will enjoy this blog, and find something of interest and usefulness. If so, please provide feedback and discussion through a comment.

P.S. Since writing the above I have obtained a new amateur radio call sign – I’m now VK3HL, and no longer VK3ZDD.

    Hi Mal

I bought a copy of exnec v5 a year or so ago and have been looking about on the internet for step by step guides to how to use it effectivly.
The bit I am really struggling with is the geometry as math was never my strong point.
PS: I like what you have done so far and I have no doubt others are in the same position as me.

Look forward to seeing what you produce in the future.

    Very Best Wishes
